Bass player for 30ys could never justify 2k for rack 1176 except in studio. Now its on my pedal boards, sound, perfect as studio rack one was, construction, should be in fallout series as it will survive the blast plus knobs old school smooth. Not for everybody after all...

After all the praise the Calli gets as the ultimate bass compressor, I decided it will be part of my pedalboard for life, so the premium price is justified. I had never read not even a single bad review about it, so what could go wrong, right?

Well, it turns out it's unusable for my needs. I use the compressor as first in line, I play with a pick and I have overdrives further down the line. The Calli adds top-end frequencies which were impossible for me to dial-out whatever I tried and which sounded pretty terrible going through my overdrives.

Maybe it brings to life muddy basses or finger-playing, but for pick-playing and bright basses - it's just too much of "edge".

No complaints in terms of build and quality other than that they could've used a softer on/off switch.

Eventually, I parted ways with the pedal in less than 6 months of use and ended up with another analog compressor that satisfies my needs and which is cheaper even.
