Harley Benton Bass Guitar Kit P-Style

Tohle je moje třetí baskytara Harley Benton, a ani tentokrát nezklamala. Sestavení je snadné, stačí základní nářadí, trocha zručnosti a trpělivosti, a je hotovo. Krk je velice příjemný, pražce začištěné, dokonce se mi podařilo seřídit dohmat stejně nízko jako u mého Jazz Bass, na který standardně hraju. Zvuk je vyvážený a robustní jak má u Precision být. Jenom dvě drobné výtky: některé otvory pro vruty nejsou vyvrtané úplně přesně, zvlášť pro ladicí mechaniky, ale všechny v rozumné toleranci. Přibalené struny ani nemá smysl natahovat - nedají se v podstatě ani naladit. Takže shrnuto - výborná basa pro radost a nejen pro začátečníky.

This thing is suprisingly fun to do. You get all the parts you need, a manual, and after maybe an hour, you can have a musical instrument you build yourself. But whats really fun about this thing is that you can take this thing to anywhere in terms of how you modify it. It all starts with shaping the headstock, choosing the colours, decals, modifying the body, changing pickups, pots, whatever. It is really an interesting platform for modifications.

But even if you do not do any mods, it is still surprisingy decent instrument. The build quality is fine, the wood is real solid wood (anyone who never cut through some hardwood will be suprised by how labourous shaping the headstock actually is).

The electronics is, of course in this price range, quite cheap. You have quite cheap pots, quite low output ceramic pickup with a little less lowend, but it is nonetheless playable and decent sounding bass. The tuners are lower quality, but will do their job and they hold the tuning well (no string slipping). I just recommend to drill the holes for the screws for tuners a bit bigger then they are predrilled.

Short summary: a really fun thing to do, you can learn a lot of stuff during the process and you will end up with a great platform for modding. The neck is comfortable and not bad, the body is fine and the electronics can be upgraded at any time.
