Final solution for me
I finally found a smooth overdrive. So many years of searching. One of the best I know is Strymon Sunset, which I have used for a long time, but Unobtanium is even better for me. I'll set any soft sound I can think of on it.
I was afraid it didn't have that high of a rating. I listened to YouTube videos for hours and then ordered. It was the best decision.
My assessment is subjective. It depends on what amplifier you have and especially what speaker you use in your box. This effect sounds best with the Celestion Redback 16 ohm.
