Where looking for a birthday present for my girlfriend who is professional violinist (I am professional double bass player myself). Saw a demo video in youtube and fell in love. Amazing sexy shape and look, beautiful sound and instant playability - feels almost just like a acoustic violin size vise, no learning curve required. She and I really like this violin. Ideal to spice things up and get yourself out from classical music realm. Pickup works great, absolutely silent - no noise, pure tone. Highly recommend.

I have played the old Yamaha SV200 for about 10 years and was never very satisfied with the sound. I love the YEV, both for its sound and for its looks! Yes, a violin should be made if natural wood.
On low volumes the sound is very sweet and quite acoustic, especially with some EQ and some reverb. On higher volumes, it holds up very well and stands out in a band-sound.

I had so many electric violins in my life but the Yamaha YEV-104 is the best so far not only in sound but in appearance and feeling. the shape is so sexy that everyone gets impressed with the good looking finishing (Real Wood). The sound is outstanding if I compared with the Yamaha SV-130 and SV-200. Overall this violin deserves a thumbs up from me

I have the SV250 and required a second "prettier" violin for short ceremonies. I was torn between buying the standard model or investing in the pro version and decided, for my needs, the standard would suffice. The service from Thomann was great and was delivered quickly and with care. The violin itself works with my existing setup (although I will require an additional preamp in the near future to improve the sound.) The only thing is I needed to get my luthier to adjust the height of the bridge (which seems to be the case with Yamahas) and I chose to replace the chin rest because I prefer one with a deeper bevel (personal preference). I'm very much excited about taking it out for its first performance this week!
