Tone City Mickey - Distortion

I'm not a distortion user, but sometimes you need it for a specific job. I saw this tiny pedal and, after a couple of youtube videos, I decided to buy it.
I placed after my Full drive 2 mosfet and it really does the job for me. I can't be more happy with this little guy. Easy to use, almost no space on the pedal board and sounds incredible. What else can you ask for barely 50€?
As I said, I'm not using this pedal as a main sound, and never owned a distortion pedal before. So this is my personal opinion after 2 days of messing around with it. Maybe if you are in a metal band or something like that, you want to try something more specific.

Tone City is renowned for their cheap BUT quality effects pedals. I own several and this is by far my favourite. It's a copy of the classic PROCO RAT-pedal. It's perfect for those heavy and juicy rock riffs. Amazing sound! Turn up the gain all the way and it functions as a fuzz pedal. Great pedal, very sturdy casing and quality knobs (the small ones have the white stripe so you can still see the setting it is on from further away). The small size is really helpful for a crammed pedalboard. Try it for yourself! For this insanely low price you can't go wrong...

Ich war auf der Suche nach einem Distortion-Pedal, welches rockt (I guess it chugs), flexibel ist, und den "alten Geist" mit sich trägt. Nach dem Durchstöbern sehr (!) vieler Videos kam ich zum Entschluss, dass es eine Ratte sein soll. Diejenige, die im Moment als Standard angeboten wird, hat aber nicht so sehr den Sound, den man von einer alten Ratte erwarten würde. Heute beruhen sie wohl auf modifizierten, modernisierten Schaltplänen und werden mit andere Komponenten aufgebaut. Die modernen Pedale, welche sich nach alter Ratte anhören, liegen ein wenig außerhalb meines Budgets (ich hatte 100 € geplant). Kurz vor dem Einknicken und der Anschaffung einer modernen Ratte sah ich dann aber ein Video, was einen der neuen, richtig teuren Nachbauten der alten Ratte mit dem Mickey von Tone City verglich. Und OMG... es wurde laufend zwischen den zu vergleichenden Pedalen umgeschaltet und man hörte keinen Unterschied. Also habe ich mir den Mickey besorgt, getestet, zu Proben geschleppt, habe mich für den geilen Sound beglückwünschen lassen und freue mich jetzt, hier diese Bewertung abzugeben. Ein schönes Ding, sehr kompakt, und was mich als halbblinden älteren Herrn besonders erfreut: bei aktiviertem MOD (über den Kippschalter) begleitet ein nettes rotes Schimmern unter dem Volume- und Tone-Regler jeden angeschlagenen Ton.
