Lovely retro guitar
My most expensive HB guitar bought, after about five cheaper HB tested I had to try this one as I fell in love with EX classic style. Arrived quickly.
Negatives first:
1) one volume pot is flimsy, second pot has some dirt embedded in the translucent plastic, third tone pot is inclined and not turning needs some effort. Maybe needs change.
2) nut needs probably a change, quite high string height on first fret
3) action is playable fine, but not great, can not get the fret to adjust straight withouth fret buzz. With necessary concave neck bow the frets like 5-12 are higher action than frets 12+.
4) one saddle screw is not completely flush with wood surface, raised a bit.
I would not mention these negatives at all with cheaper guitar, but at this price is a bit higher, I have to say.
Overall some luthier tweaking needed, but I am sure this will be 100% worth it!
Positives: lovely gloss black head finish with silver logo, good tuners, fantastic fret polish, fantastic fret sprout (none), quite clean and nicely finished fretboard surface. Great finish job, found only a very little minor finish issue about 2mm on the nec, otherwise good. Good tone, not perfect, but decent, a bit muddy, not screaming bitey but I guess that is how EX should sound. Quite good ergos.
Price/value ratio: 10 points, no doubt, excellent.
If you like the style, you will probably love it. If you dont like EX, it is good, but not perfect guitar.
