Gretsch G9220 Bobtail Roundneck

I bought this for playing live and I have not been disappointed. It looks, plays and sounds great and has certainly lived up to my expectations. I have no hesitation in recommending this guitar to other musicians. It is no National or Dobro but at a fraction of the cost it is a superb instrument nevertheless.

Great value reso. Very resonant and lively compared to most others in this price bracket. Good set up straight out of the box and quality components suggest it will be low maintenance for many years. Try one and you'll buy one.

i read some online reviews all very positive. I already own the square neck version , had it for over two years and can't fault it. This guitar humming as i took it out the box great tone and build quality. I was a little concearned about the v shaped neck, but found after a while it suited me just fine. the only niggle would be lack of on board control of the pick up but i can live with that. I used to own a metal body resonator but found it too heavy. the bobtail is a great size and light just makes you want to play.

This Guitar to my mind is worth every penny, it sounds great - played soft or loud - playability is first rate due to short scale and great setup, action is spot on. Also it weighs considerably less than metal bodied version - which I also love the sound of - the finish on this Guitar is faultless - it looks great, very glad I made this purchase!!!

The neck is very nice with a perfect V-shape.
The guitar has a nice satin finish with Beautiful craftmanship.
The Fishman pickup sounds very good!

the Bobtail is the 4th Gretsch res I've bought and consider it the best they have to offer . I fingerpick without pics and found the Bobtail way too quiet when first arrived . I replaced the strings with Pearse 600 L's , ran it through a small amp with a SpectraComp compressor and a chorus pedal . pretty spectacular results . now my favorite . anyone playing with a pic or pics would not need all this hoopla but again after all said and done I'm real satisfied with the Bobtail , seems to be higher quality than my other G's ..a Boxcar , Alligator and Honey Dipper .

Excellent build quality. A very responsive resonator with a great sound and superb playability. It's very difficult to find fault with the Bobtail - fantastic value for money.

Good enough that I've come back to buy the steel square neck version as well!

This guitar is gorgeous. It plays so well, with a deep and rounded sound that I've just fallen in love with. The V-profile neck took a little getting used to, but I now cannot go back. Something about that neck shape feels better in the hand. The instrument of course came in perfect condition. As with my prior purchases, I am completely satisfied with Thomann's standards and delivery practices. I think you would find it difficult to get a resonator this good at this price anywhere else.
