Underrated snare, incredible bang for your buck!
Decided to write a review for this snare as none of the current reviews do any justince.
First of all - the packaging. I have ordered tom drum heads together woth the snare, so Thomann decided to use a huge box. For reference - it could not fit into the boot of a Nissan Leaf. It barely fit through the back passenger door! The snare must have been flying all over the place in transit.
The packaging for DW was amazing - snare was padded and secured inside the box.
The snare itself looks amazing. Hardware is outstanding - extremely easy to tune with the DW's rods. The MAG throwoff is amazingly smooth. Hoops are at least 2.3mm, although I would guess its 2.5mm. The drum head is a DW branded Remo Controlled Sound, not a chinese made - suits the snare really well. The sound is also excellent, although it really depends on how you tune it - I like it really high, so it has that crack I always wanted. The snare I used before was a PDP X7 14x5 maple snare, so the upgrade was really noticeable.
Would recommend for anyone who is looking for a brass snare - the price is brilliant and the quality of the hardware will not dissapoint. If blind guessed I would have thought this is a 500-600 euro snare.

Lives up to it´s name and much more
This is obviously DW´s lowerpriced take on the classic nickel/brass shell, but it is simply fantastic. Tunes very very well (even with stockheads), with a range and tonality that matches the much more expensive snares in the same vein, MAG throwoff is also really nice.
